Transferring your site from Flywheel Hosting

**BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP, these instructions are to change at anytime. Should you not feel comfortable making the changes, please join our support or make a ticket and we can help you and transferring.

There are many different types of hosting companies that provide hosting services, but not all provide cPanel access. Because of this, some transfers require a manual migration. To migrate your site using Flywheel and cPanel is pretty simple. Just by following these steps, you can be on your way to hosting here in a matter of minutes. 

  1. Login to Flywheel
  2. Select your Domain/Site
  3. Select Backups
  4. Click the 3 dots
  5. Click Download
  6. Check your email for the download link.
    *The download link will include your wp-content folder and database for the website.

After you download your backup, you will just need to upload and import to the WordPress here. You will login to your billing account here and open your Wordpress hosting or cPanel. The steps are the same no matter which hosting platform you use. 

Uploading the Required Files:

  1. Go to Create.com
  2. Click Sign In
  3. Click Hosting
  4. Click Shared or WordPress ( You will need to install WordPress first ).
  5. Install WordPress
  6. Select Manage for the domain you are working on
  7. Click cPanel Tools on the Left menu
  8. Click File Manager
  9. Select public_html or the directory you are working with
  10. Rename the wp-content folder
  11. Click Upload from the top menu bar
  12. Upload the downloaded backup
  13. Extract the backup
  14. Drag and Drop the wp-content folder to the public_html or directory you are working in
  15. Once you have the files in place, all that is left is to import the database and clear the cache on your Site and your Computer

Importing the Database:

  1. Go to Create.com
  2. Click Sign In
  3. Click Hosting
  4. Click Shared or WordPress
  5. Select Manage for the domain you are working on
  6. Click cPanel Tools on the Left menu
  7. Click phpMyAdmin
  8. Select the Database you are working with
    *In WordPress hosting, there is only 1 database. If unsure on the database, you can check the WP-Config.php file in File Manager.
  9. Click Import
  10. Click Choose File
  11. Select the SQL file you downloaded from the backup
  12. Click Open
  13. Click GO at the bottom

Now just to clear the cache for WordPress Hosting or Cache from your computer if Shared/Reseller hosting.

  1. Go to Create.com
  2. Click Sign In
  3. Click Hosting
  4. Click Shared or WordPress
  5. Select Manage for the domain you are working on
  6. Click Cache Settings on the left menu
  7. Click Clear Cloudflare Cache
  8. Click Clear WordPress Cache
